How does the cost of living of Australia compared to the rest of the world? While inflation has eased in many regions, the cost of living remains a major global challenge.
Across 28 countries, home prices have risen more than 50% since 2020 and grocery costs have also risen sharply.
According to the Global Cost of Living Index 2026, Australia ranks in at 21 on the list. Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Switzerland round out the top 3, while the US ranks 19 and the UK at 22.
